In my 2nd year, I took the course, Fashion History. The curriculum outlines the evolution of fashion from the ancient world to now. Each lesson focuses on different cultures and dress from the Egyptians to the Romans to the current era. I naturally gravitated to the Italian Renaissance. I was intrigued by the silhouettes and textiles from 14th-15th century Italy. Seamstresses valued the structure of the hourglass shape. Additionally, the corset, or stay as it was called, was developed creating many different shapes.

Corsetry and Draping are my favorite techniques that I learned in courses in the fashion design curriculum.  This is what inspired my collection. I wanted my focus to be on shape and femininity.  My looks are enhanced by using bold colors, lace, tailoring, and focus on structure.
